Position: Bartender

Reports to: Leads and Owners of Bad Habits

Philosophy:

Bad Habits fosters active engagement with all of our patrons, so a knack for engaging and/or thoughtful conversation is necessary.  We seek employees who can recognize someone who ‘just wants to drink in peace’ vs. someone who may be seeking some attention. A patron should never feel ignored or out-of-place. Bad Habits welcomes all (above 21) who want to enjoy fun times, good drinks and food, and be social.
Customers can drink anywhere. There are hundreds of places to eat.  Bad Habits wants to provide a welcoming atmosphere and company, even if they don’t want to be chatty. We want them to feel welcome and recognized. This starts with you; you are the face and reflection of Bad Habits, and our customers should always want to stop in to see their favorite ‘friend behind the bar’, etc.

Job Description:
Our bar staff will maintain the general function of the front-of-house; this includes, but not limited to: drink service (bartending), use of POS system, cash and credit counting and processing, inventory recording, waste control, ID checking, crowd control, patron service, restock. While title is primarily active bartending, it will also have an active role with the owners on creative adaptation of the bar options, watch for needed changes to suit the needs of the business and the team. This position requires active employee feedback, meeting attendance, and other functions to keep Bad Habits running smoothly. Flexible scheduling. Training and shadowing as part of every hire. ServSafe certification will be required.

Required Capabilities:
– Reliable attendance & transportation
– Bartending experience (or equivalent table service)
– Understanding bar daily service process
– Cash handling, understanding of POS system
– Customer Service Skills
– Follow and understand bar etiquette
– Social skills with customers and staff
– Understanding of health and safety laws surrounding food and bar service
– ServeSafe certification (not required at hire)
– Minimum Availability (negotiable)
– Ability to stand for hours at a time.
– Ability to lift and move 50 lbs or more
– Recognition of faces
– Ability to read and write in English

Responsibilities:
– Bartending shifts
– Alcohol inventory counting
– Waste recording
– Shadowing of new hires
– Maintaining cleaning and safety schedule
– Regular communication with owners
– Opening bar duties and/or closing bar duties
– Assigned tasks from leads
– Be Social
– Have fun!

Compensation:
– This is an hourly, tipped position.
– 1% profit sharing for eligible pay periods (additional % after 1 year of service)
– 20/40 hours standard vacation (based on hours worked)

– 50% discount on food and drinks
– (1) complimentary cocktail per working shift (6 hours or more).
